Psychoeducational Assessment

Psychoeducational assessment is available for parents or individuals who wish to determine academic achievement and/or cognitive ability. Academic achievement data determines level of academic competency in math, reading, and writing.

Cognitive abilty (IQ or intelligence) testing measures a variety of ability areas, such as thinking ability, verbal ability, and processing speed. Data from psychoeducational testing may be used for admission to certain schools or to document a disability condition for public or private schools, or for colleges and universities. Psychoeducational testing may also be used for educational or vocational planning.

Private psychological services, as defined by 22 TAC 465.1(10) are provided by Licensed Psychologists.

Important Note: Texas public schools utilize Full and Individual Evaluations, which include psychoeducational assessment, to establish special education criteria for all disability condition categories. Public schools provide this testing free of charge. Please contact your local public school district for more information.
